Just Randomness...This IS the Post You are Looking For.
We love you all so much and cannot wait to see entries on your blogs about your time in American Samoa. We have had a blast here all week with Res; he has taken such good care of us. The children will miss their Uncle; Jarod has already asked if he can come with us. We head out tomorrow no later than 5:30am. Please pray for us as drive. We will post once we get home. We love you all so so much. I leave you with this last picture of me and my Snuggie...I mean Jedi robe.

Saturday Savings 12/26
Got a few bargains today - mostly related to after-Christmas sales at Wal-Mart.
Following is a summary:
2 packs of Disney-themed mini-notebooks, 4 or 6 in a pack. Were $2.00 each, marked down to $1.00 each.
3 packs of Disney-themed pencils, 12 in a pack. Some Mickey and Friends and some Princess. $1.00 each.
32 cups for making Christmas gifts for my students next year. $3.00 total.
Set of 12 (I think) gift bags. $2.50
A gift for Dianna to use in the PCA Christmas gift exchange next year. $2.50 (Couldn't find one for Jarod's exchange gift, since all the boy gifts were G.I. Joe or Transformers. Just not suitable for a 3 year old at PCC/PCA. ;) )
3 boxes of candy canes $1.32
A few other items, including pain reliever for Dianna (her left ear has been hurting) and Pepto for Jarod (he seemed to have an upset tummy today). Triaminic cold and cough strips were on roll-back for $4.50, and I used a $3.00 coupon to get them for $1.50.
Over all, I spent $27 at Wal-Mart for at least $40 of product. I love after-Christmas sales!
Looking forward to payday this coming week and the chance to bargain shop some more. I'd love to know what you all do to cut costs and to be a smart shopper.
PS - Did you know that Publix and Winn-Dixie both double the value of manufacturer's coupons? EXCEPT in the state of Florida. grr.

Jacksonville area flooding
If this last picture continued just a bit more to the left, you'd see the stranded cars from the previous picture.
We went out again today, trying again to get to North Little Rock. The weather has been quite clear all day, but the water has not receded enough, and the interstate was still closed. We are going to try again tomorrow afternoon.

Oot and Aboot in Jacksonville
We're Dreaming of a Soggy Christmas?
I can't get pictures to upload today, and I'm too impatient to wait it out. I'll have to ask Talani to post later with pictures; he'll be patient enough to make sure it's done right. :)
Lookin' around, it's nothin' but GRAY skies here in Arkansas. It's has been raining non-stop for almost two days straight. I think it may be stopping for the moment -- quick! everyone to the car! Let's go DO something while we have the chance!
It may snow a tiny bit tonight. If the snow is worthy, we'll wake the kids up to see snow for the first time. :) It's supposed to clear up after today and not rain or snow again until Tuesday, a day or two AFTER we leave!
I'll save all the stories of our adventures here for Talani's post with pictures. (He's a much better story teller than I am, anyway. Did you love his Lord of the Rings tale of our journey here? I experienced the trip and I still enjoyed his fantasy spin on the details.)
So, my post will end - after an update on my hobby - learning to save money through couponing and smart shopping. Some websites for you to check out:

Kristen just booked her family's summer trip to Disney World (they'll be there when we are!). She's nearly paid for the whole thing by employing smart shopping strategies.

Complete surveys and click links in emails to add value to your account. When you've reached $30, request a payout. Check's (almost) in the mail! (I've got a balance of almost $10 after just about 2 weeks with the site.)

My dad got me interested in this site. Answer trivia questions daily to earn "oodles" which translate into prizes. For 9,000+ oodles, get a $10 Starbucks gift card. Home Depot, Applebees, and Walmart cards are also options. We've got about 11,000 oodles and are saving toward a goal that we'll reach sometime in 2010. I am currently using an account in my name, while Dad has an account in Talani's name that has generated 2 gift cards totalling $50 over the past few months.
www.lightspeedpanel.com
Take surveys for points. Redeem points for gift cards. So far, we've earned a $5 gift card to Red Robin and we're one good survey away from another $5 gift card to one of several restaurants. Or I could keep saving points for a more valuable gift card. I've been with this site for just a little over 2 weeks, trying to take one survey a day.
www.mypoints.com
Receive points for shopping online through this website. Then redeem the points for gift cards. I'm trying to save for a gift card that we'll use at Disney. I need 6,750 points. I have 255 points. Oh, I'll get that gift card, all right, though Dianna might be 10 by the time I earn enough! This is a site that I can earn extra points for referrals. I'm going to work on putting up a link on the right side of the blog for you to click on and get started earning your own points and help me out at the same time. :)
www.swagbucks.com
Earn points for your web searches. I've already got a link on the right of the blog to this site. I do get a kick-back for referrals. Here's what you need to do. Click the link and register. Then, use the swagbucks website whenever you would normally google something. You'll get all the same results to your search. There's a chance you'll win swagbucks with your search. (There's a chance you won't win, too. That's why you use swagbucks for ALL your searching.) I've earned 45 swagbucks, enough for a $5 Amazon egift card. Talani has 21 swagbucks. When we get enough egift cards to Amazon, we'll be able to buy our Disney guide book by combining our earnings and maybe even get the book for free!

Saturday Savings 12/12/09
No pictures or cute stories today, sorry. I just wanted to write a quick post about my newest fascination - smart shopping. I've recently come across a blog or two about smart shopping, and I've been amazed at how much money can be saved when you know how to go about it. My new favorite website is couponingtodisney.blogspot.com. The author - I call her the couponing mom - is using smart shopping as a way to pay for a future trip to Disney World. She's well on her way to paying for the trip entirely by using smart shopping to save money in her household budget. (She also does online surveys and the like to earn more cash and prizes which she uses toward her trip or other needs.)
I'm still trying to find my way with all the of the rules and whatnot, but we did have some fun this morning doing some shopping. I'll give you a summary below, then you need to log on to couponingtodisney and see what you find for free-or-cheap too.
Walmart #1 - $6 worth of products for $1.39. Among the free items: renu contact lens solution
Target - $6 worth of stuff for $2.21. Among the free items: two cans of organic green tea, Johnson and Johnson shampoo
Walmart #2 - $16 and change worth of products for $5 and change. Among the free items: Cole's stuffed breadsticks and Snuggle fabric softener sheets.
Whataburger - $13.50 worth of food for $3.39, thanks to the 12-days-of-whataburger promotion . . . we got 4 free breakfast sandwiches with the coupons we printed.
I found it quite exhilarating to get so much today and to spend so little for it. In several cases, the coupon we used was for more than the shelf price, so we got a little extra off of the rest of our purchase. For example, the Renu contact solution we bought at Walmart was $1.47. We used a $2.00 manufacturer's coupon, so we got the item for free plus $.57 saved from the rest of our bill.
I almost can't wait until the newspaper gets here tomorrow so I can work on finding more great deals.

Getting Ready for Christmas
I love the fact that the both really fit their Christmas outfits that Mom and Dad brought with them to NC two years ago. Thank you very much, Grandma Ella and Grandpa David for the gorgeous island Christmas clothes. They get such great comments on them when they wear them out and about (say "out and about" like a Canadian "oot and aboot"). We wish that we could all be together for another Christmas. Next we have Dianna doing her best Vana White impersonation. She is B-E-A-utiful. The LORD has blessed us with some sweet and cute children. Dianna wore her ofu to school last Friday for Christmas pictures. Pretty!!
We love you all so much and cannot wait to see you all again. We are looking forward to getting to Arkansas for Christmas. We are very excited for Grandma Ella and Grandpa David to see their two other grandbabies and show them off to island. In case I don't see you, "Good afternoon, good evening, and good night." Love you.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!
Happy Thanksgiving from our cute little indian.
Happy Thanksgiving to all!! We are so blessed and thankful for our wonderful and beautiful family. The LORD is so good to all of us and has given us so much to be thankful and grateful for. Praise the LORD for this country of ours that, for all of its problems, is the greatest country on the planet. Thank you LORD for the freedoms we enjoy and are able to share with our families. We are so privileged to have our family visiting from Palatka. Mom and Dad Bailey and Grandma Gregory arrived safely yesterday afternoon and will be with us until tomorrow sometime. It is a short visit but we will enjoy every minute of it. We hope you all have a safe Thanksgiving and know that we love you all and miss you. We wish we could all be together.
Mommy and Dianna taking a break from Thanksgiving preparations to be cute.

New Accomplishments, Memories, Bragging, and....Hurricanes?!?
Dianna just received a gold ribbon for completing another section in her Master Clubs book. She is blessed with such a brilliant mind (just like her mom). You can see her vest has more patches on it than it did the first time we tok a piture of her in it. the ribbon is not meant to be worn on the vest, but she wanted to have it on for the picture; also, there is one more badge that is not shown-it will go on her left side just under the blue badge. She is now learning her eighth verse for this year in club. Praise the LORD for her diligence.
This picture was taken last year at Disney. I just love it how they take of care of each other. Jarod had just fallen or hit his head on the dining room table or something of that boyish nature, but Dianna took him and laid him down and was rubbing his head while they watched the Disney Channel. So cute. I just love them so much.
Well, that is all for now. "Oh. Pardon me, I just have one more thing to say." (That was a little Peter Faulk for you - Princess Bride or Columbo, either one.) We are currently under a hurricane warning or watch (I am not sure which). The hurricane (Ida) has since been downgraded to a tropical storm but is still expected to make landfall somewhere around midnight tonight, so really Nov. 10. We are in the center of the projected cone, but it could go either east or west. Please keep us in prayer. I am not expecting much other than a lot of rain and some wind. The Academy is closed until Thursday. So Barbie and the children will be home tomorrow and Wednesday. We will keep you all posted as the weather comes and goes. I or Barbie will post tomorrow. We will open Skype up tomorrow if anyone wants a live weather report from the panhandle. In case I don't see you, "Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and good night." Alofa tele.
This was taken this afternoon after supper. The children are enjoying some lollipops while watching a Veggie Tales cartoon. I enjoyed seeing them relaxing together on the couch in their spots. The spots were assigned in order to maintain some semblence of order; so Jarod sits on the far end, Ayden in the middle, and Dianna in the foreground. Dianna claimed her spot just as soon as we moved into the house, and it turns out to be the best spot in the living room to watch tv from.
I love this picture because Dianna is snapping. She asked her Mama how to snap, and Barbie told her how to hold her fingers and what to do. That was last week. She kept at it everyday and now she snaps her fingers. Incredible. Willing to put in the time and the effort to accomplish her goal. Her snap is not a loud one, but definitely there to be heard. What a girl!

Hello, there. I know it has been a little bit since last we posted, but we are all well again. We have all been sick off and on, but praise the LORD for HIS goodness and HIS healing hand. We have had a great week. The children have been learning so much at school and we are so proud of them. We are looking forward to the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks. This week, Barbie and the children have Veteran's Day off; that will be a good break to rest and for Barbie to get some school work done. I was looking at some pictures on the computer and found some pictures from a vacation two summers ago. These first two pictures are from that Disney trip (what a great time we had, but I like seeing how much the kids have changed). The picture with Donald was taken at EPCOT in the World Showcase, and the next one was taken at Disney's Studios.

This next pisctur is of Dianna earlier this year just relaxing in the kitchen. She is just so cute. I love her so much. You can see my beautiful wife in the background.
This next picture is from just a couple of weeks ago. The singles were doing a scavenger hunt, and our house was the last stop. The teams had to do either a round of Ring around the Rosie or Duck, Duck, Goose or a combination of both. The children had a fantastic time playing with the singles from the church.
The following picture was taken between the hour of 10pm and 11pm on the night of the seventh of November. He was playing out of his room and just fell asleep in the hallway. He is so cute. He goes 90 miles an hour right up until the moment he falls asleep.
We will talk to you all later. Have a great week. We love you all so very much.

A Sneak Peek at Next Summer's Vacation at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
The first picture is the view of the public area/savannah from one of the guest rooms. You can also see more the Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas arching away, helping you - I hope - to visualize the almost circular design of the resort.
The above picture is of the vanity area in a studio (the kind of room Mom and Dad will stay in when they join us in May). Not shabby, huh, Mom and Dad? In the mirror, you can sort-of see the kitchenette that is located on the other side of the vanity area.
In the picture below, the entrance to the room is straight ahead, the vanity and bathroom to the left and the kitchenette to the right. Just past the kitchenette on the right but before the entry door, can you see the edge of the doorway leading to the adjoining room next door? The rooms are designed with a studio right next to a one-bedroom villa. That way, they can serve dual purposes: alone or combined to make a two-bedroom villa. We have a two-bedroom, allowing you, Mom and Dad, to have a private and fully-equipped space, but also allowing us to be very close together.
Below is a view of the same studio from the opposite end. Mom and Dad, your room will have a similar private balcony overlooking the savannah. The tiny table and couple of chairs make the balcony the perfect place to enjoy that early morning cup of coffee and devotions. Usually it's so quiet and peaceful early in the morning; then the kids get up. :)

Now, we have moved into the one-bedroom side of our accomodations. Above is, obviously, the tiny but fully equipped kitchen where I'll be preparing most of our meals. Very thankful for the dishwasher you can just barely glimpse over the top of the island.

This is a view of the pool area from the balcony. We probably won't have a view of this, being in a savannah view villa. This is the only picture of the pool area I could find on allears.net, though. The kids love the pool here, and we anticipate getting to visit the pool most days. Guest services will provide life jackets for the kids for the duration of our stay; they enjoy playing in the pool so much with the freedom to move around that their own (lack of) swimming abilities cannot provide as of yet.

The living/dining room area of the one-bedroom. The dining room table has a bench on the right side. The couch does fold out into a bed, as does the orange chair in the corner. It was a perfect bed for Dianna when we were there last year; she plans on using it again.

We are so excited about our Disney vacation in general and super excited about sharing it with you this time will be so special, Mom and Dad. Now, if we can convince the rest of the fam that they need a Disney trip . . .
