Old Stomping Grounds

This past Sunday we decided to venture away from Disney to go back to Palatka. We wanted to go to church at Faith Baptist  to show the children where their Mommy grew up and where we were married. It was bittersweet,  in that we only knew two people there and there were less than 30 people in attendance (including the 6 of us visitors). The pastor is a former A Beka rep who had kids at PCC at the same time we were in school. Barbie got to show the kids the AWANA trophy case which has some pictures of her from the 80's.  We also took a picture in front of Dad Bailey's sound booth (incidentally,  we sat in the old Bailey pew). After church we met up with Barbie's best friend (who was the maid of honor in our wedding) and her husband for lunch and fellowship - it was good to see Tim and Summer again. We then went to visit Grammy's (Grandma Gregory) grave and showed the children the old Bailey house. After touring the bustling metropolis of Palatka,  we began our long journey back to the Magical world of Disney. It was good to be back for a bit. We may even make it a tradition.  Love you all. Have a great week.

Samoan/Iroquois?

Last weekend, we took Jarod to try out a new sport: the Iroquois game of lacrosse.  A youth league sprung up last year here in Pensacola and the league's coaches were holding a free clinic to try to get more interest in this sport that is new to the Pan Handle. He had a good time and was even paid a compliment by one of the coaches who were helping with his group. The LORD has blessed Jarod with a lot of natural athletic ability.  We will not be able to get him in this season, but perhaps next year.  He really enjoyed himself. At the end of the clinic, they played a game that was like musical chairs but with tennis balls. Out of 35 boys, Jarod James was in the final 5 and was the only 7 year old in that group (the other 4 were ages 11 and older). He did not win, but I was proud of how far he went. He has some maturing to do before next season (if we are going to let him play); upon being eliminated, he got pouty and would not hustle off the field. He is still young. Love that boy so much. He had a blast getting to learn a new sport.

Disney Bound (in 27 days)

So we are traveling to Disney for Christmas and we received our Magic Bands today. The Bands are electronic devices that allow guests access to their rooms, make purchases, and (when connected to one's admission ticket) grants access to Disney parks. Pretty nifty stuff!  They are personalized with each guest's name on the underside and each person gets to choose his/her color from seven different colors.  The children were very excited.  Barbie made their sign as they waited by the mailbox. They were very kind and waited for me to get off from work to open our packages (Audrey's sign reads: "Waiting for Daddy to come home so we can open our Magic Bands"). They were so cute!   We are super excited about our trip. It will be Cyrus Eston's first trip. Love you all. Have a great week.

Audrey and Her Treasures

She LOVED her gifts!  Thank you so much.  She keeps her books in her bag and has already said she wants to use her bag at the Academy in the Fall. We love you both.

This Boy is Growing Up Too FAST!

May I please direct your attention to the center ring! Okay, not a circus but an amazing feat was acomplished none the less.  So the other day Cyrus pulled himself up onto his knees in his crib. This morning he pulled himself up to a standing position in his crib. He was standing (well, leaning on an exersaucer) at Nursery when we picked him up this afternoon.  This video shows him performing his latest trick in the family room at home.

As we were driving down the road, Audrey started reciting her verses from school and Master's Clubs.  Love you all.

Greek Rush 2014

Last night we went to enjoy the energetic spectacle that is the PCC Collegian Greek Rush Parade, held on the campus of Pensacola Christian College.  There was lots of people, lights, costumes and certainly no shortage of candy (much the dismay of the parents who brought small children to the parade at 8pm). A good time was had by all. Love you all

PCA Open House

Today the children were able to find out what classroom they would be in for the year and who would be leading them on their journey of knowledge. Dianna will be in Mr. Bohlman's 4th Grade class and Jarod will be in Mrs. Park's 2nd Grade class. Mrs. Park is married to a Richard Park, who I think he said he knew Daddy. His wife is from Hawai'i. The children are super excited about this school year. This Thursday we have both of their orientation and book sale.

Saturday Trip to the Farmer's Market

We do enjoy our Saturday trips downtown to the Farmer's Market.  It is so much fun to see all the different offerings being sold by the vendors and just to be together and enjoy the time.  On this trip we found some mustard marinades, homemade salsa and a rack of pork ribs.  All three were tasty! On the walk back to the Dauntless, we noticed these cool doors across the street. The doors belonged to a Catholic church on the original site of the very first church in Pensacola. We also found a food reuck that was selling French crepes.  We bought a sugar, butter and lemon crepes. It was delicious.  Love you all. Have a great weekend.
