Old Stomping Grounds

This past Sunday we decided to venture away from Disney to go back to Palatka. We wanted to go to church at Faith Baptist  to show the children where their Mommy grew up and where we were married. It was bittersweet,  in that we only knew two people there and there were less than 30 people in attendance (including the 6 of us visitors). The pastor is a former A Beka rep who had kids at PCC at the same time we were in school. Barbie got to show the kids the AWANA trophy case which has some pictures of her from the 80's.  We also took a picture in front of Dad Bailey's sound booth (incidentally,  we sat in the old Bailey pew). After church we met up with Barbie's best friend (who was the maid of honor in our wedding) and her husband for lunch and fellowship - it was good to see Tim and Summer again. We then went to visit Grammy's (Grandma Gregory) grave and showed the children the old Bailey house. After touring the bustling metropolis of Palatka,  we began our long journey back to the Magical world of Disney. It was good to be back for a bit. We may even make it a tradition.  Love you all. Have a great week.

Samoan/Iroquois?

Last weekend, we took Jarod to try out a new sport: the Iroquois game of lacrosse.  A youth league sprung up last year here in Pensacola and the league's coaches were holding a free clinic to try to get more interest in this sport that is new to the Pan Handle. He had a good time and was even paid a compliment by one of the coaches who were helping with his group. The LORD has blessed Jarod with a lot of natural athletic ability.  We will not be able to get him in this season, but perhaps next year.  He really enjoyed himself. At the end of the clinic, they played a game that was like musical chairs but with tennis balls. Out of 35 boys, Jarod James was in the final 5 and was the only 7 year old in that group (the other 4 were ages 11 and older). He did not win, but I was proud of how far he went. He has some maturing to do before next season (if we are going to let him play); upon being eliminated, he got pouty and would not hustle off the field. He is still young. Love that boy so much. He had a blast getting to learn a new sport.
